Implants

Dental implants substitute extracted teeth, providing an artificial high-tech root constructed from titanium, replacing the natural root of a tooth. Titanium based dental implants are surgically placed into the bone of the jaw, and over a healing period of 2-6 months, it will fully integrate with the jaw bone structure.
The advantages of an implant are: a) comfort and quality of life, b) aesthetics, c) durability, d) bone preservation, e) presrvation of adjacent teeth, f) convenience and greater self-esteem.
When and why place an implant?
a) When one or more teeth are lost, implants are preferred instead of a dental fixed bridge (as adjacent teeth remain intact), or instead of a partial denture.
b) When all teeth are lost, usually 2 to 6 implants are applied in order to provide the base for a removable denture with a retentive attachment system. This provides aesthetics, convenience, reliability and self-confidence.
Durability of an implant?
Dental implants can last a life-time if you take good care of them (good daily oral hygiene, dental cleanings etc), as well as depending on the bone quality.
